Organic Seed Alliance is founded on the belief that seed is both our common cultural heritage and a living natural resource fundamental to the future sustainability of food production.


Saving Our Seed

Saving Our Seed is 10 Partners Working with Southeast Farmers and Extension Agents in the Production of Organic and Heirloom Seed. Based in the Southeast region of the U.S.


Non-GMO papaya seeds available in limited quantities

Non-GMO papaya seeds available to the public in limited quantities starting October 1, 2010 from the University of Hawai’i (UH) seed program.

Sunrise and Waimanalo X-77 (low bearing) varieties will be available.

Currently growing subsamples out, to confirm seedlings are GMO-free. Seed comes from tested GMO-free individuals in UH Waimanalo Experiment Station’s isolated, certified organic field. 

$12 per ounce, $3 for home gardener packet.

Exposure to high levels of 2,4-D, an ingredient of Agent Orange used against civilians during the Vietnam war, has been linked to cancers including leukemia in children, birth defects and reproductive problems among other health issues.

While little is known about the impact of low-level exposure to the herbicide, it does disrupt the endocrine system – a network of glands that make hormones which control growth and development, reproduction, metabolism and our organs and moods.
